Joy Blackstock is a former chorus teacher at Early High School in Early, Texas.
At age 23, Blackstock was charged with having a sexual relationship with an 18-year-old male student while employed as a teacher at the school. It is important to note that Texas law prohibits sexual relationships between educators and students even if the sex is consensual and the student is of legal age.

She shouldn’t be charged with anything, the law should simply require her to be fired.
Very poor judgement of you for posting this woman’s photo on your website — you should take it down immediately. Firstly, she is not a pedophile or a sex offender, and you damn her by association with those who are. Secondly, she hasn’t been found guilty; that’s because she didn’t break any laws. She broke the her employment agreement and may or may not be fired for that.
But here you are lumping her in with convicted sex offenders?
A) Shame on you. B) You’re exposing yourself to libel — be careful.

It is not uncommon for male coaches to date the over 18 seniors at this school, and a couple of those affairs wound up in marriage. Double standards all the way………….same situation at UT with coaches Bev Kearney and Major Applewhite.
